IALE-D Student Award
Award of the best landscape ecological thesis (bachelor, master)
Every two years, we honor the best bachelor or master thesis in the field of landscape ecology (of the last two years) with the "IALE-D Student Award" aus.
IALE-D furthermore supports participants of international summer schools; our award winners have the best chances for a grant.

The IALE-D Student Award 2018 for the best bachelor thesis goes to Vivian Welzel, from the Unit Landscape Ecology and Land Use Planning, at University for Sustainable Development Eberswalde for her work with the title: "Werkstatt für ländliche Kultur. Auswahl von Oderbruch-typischen, kulturell bedeutsamen Exponaten für die Ausstellung 'Gegenstände und Ihre Geschichten' im Museum Altranft – Werkstatt für ländliche Kultur durch Methoden der Landschaftskommunikation"
The IALE-D Student Award 2018 for the best master thesis goes to Sonja Lepper, from the Institute for Geoecology - Landscape Ecology and Environmental Systems Analysis of the Technical University of Braunschweig for her work with the title: "Bewertung eines Permakulturdesigns als Planungsstrategie für die nachhaltige Verbesserung von Ökosystemleistungen"
2016
The IALE-D Student Award 2016 goes to Peter Weißhuhn from Institute of Earth and Environmental Sciences of Potsdam University for his master thesis "Nachhaltige Fruchtfolgen: Ökosystemleistungen von Agrarökosystemen über die Integration mehrjähriger Polykulturen optimieren".
2014
For her Master Thesis "Relating Canopy Reflectance to Vegetation Composition of Mountainous Grasslands in the Greater Caucasus", which was elaborated at University Gießen, Anja Magiera is awarded with the IALE-D Student Award.
2012
The IALE-D Student Award 2012 goes to Martina Artmann from University Salzburg for her master thesis "Straßenverkehrslärm im Siedlungsbereich. Gemeinden entlang von Autobahnen im Spannungsfeld ökonomischer, ökologischer und sozialer Interessen"
2009
The IALE-D Student Award 2009 goes to Simon Grohe from the University of applied sciences of Eberswalde for his master thesis "Förderung von Waldumweltmaßnahmen aus dem Fonds zur Förderung der Entwicklung des ländlichen Raumes (ELER) am Beispiel der NABU-Stiftung Nationales Naturerbe in den Ländern Mecklenburg-Vorpommern und Niedersachsen"
2007
The IALE-D Student Award 2007 goes to Martin Ulrich Steinert from University Leipzig & UFZ, for his diploma thesis: "Überprüfung von Verfahren zur Bewertung der Retentionsfunktion am Beispiel des Einzugsgebietes der Oberen Ems"
2005
The IALE-D Student Award 2005 goes to Nico Balkenhol from the University of applied sciences of Vechta for his diploma thesis: "GIS-based Analysis of Home Ranges and Habitat Selection of Leopards (Panthera pardus) in Namibia"
2003
The diploma thesis awarded in Eberswalde was written by Bastian Bomhard entitled "GIS-gestützte Untersuchungen zum Einfluß der Landschaftsstruktur auf die Bruthabitatwahl ausgewählter bodenbrütender Vogelarten im Regierungsbezirk Leipzig" at University Göttingen, supervised at UFZ Leipzig.
2002
In 2002 Daniel Hub received the Students Award for his thesis:
"Erfolgskontrollen im Rahmen der Eingriffsregelung - Nachkontrollen, Entwicklungsprognosen und Effizienzüberlegungen zu Aufforstungs- und Sukzessionsflächen an der BAB 9 in Brandenburg", written at University Potsdam.
2001
Prize winner in the year 2001 was Jürgen Knies with the topic: "Vegetationskundliche Szenarien als Grundlage für die naturschutzfachliche Zielbestimmung am Beispiel des vorgeschlagenen FFH-Gebietes 'Delmetal'" from University Oldenburg.
2000
The first prize winner of the IALE-D Students Award in the year 2000 was Vroni Retzer with her thesis: "Charakterisierung und Vergleich der Vegetationsdiversität zweier Kulturlandschaften. Untersuchungen anhand einer systematischen Rastermethode in Frankenalb und Fichtelgebirge – Eine Methodenkritik –" from University Bayreuth, Department for Biogeography.
